Myton Church Coronavirus update

Following the recent Government guidance the church leadership has had to make the decision to close all ministries that involve people gathering physically together. The only exception to this will be the Westbury Centre foodbank, as we feel it is necessary to continue this blessing to those in great need.

We believe this is a wise and appropriate decision to help protect the vulnerable at this time in line with the government’s request.

Be assured this is not the church closing for a number of weeks but instead it is the church changing for a period as we seek to respond to the extraordinary circumstances we are facing.

Consequently we will be looking to maximise our use of technology. The first steps we will be seeking to take are:

  • Making a recorded service available each Sunday morning to watch via YouTube, with an e-mail link being circulated. At a time when there may seem to be very little routine or pattern, you (and your family) may want to access that at 10.30am, knowing others will be doing the same.
  • Recording other teaching to make available at different points during the week.
  • Creating a new church blog in due course with helpful articles and resources being highlighted.
  • Looking at ways we can enable other groups, such as house groups, to meet virtually.

Bear with us as we work to put these things in place. Please do ensure we have your contact details so that you do not miss out on any of the above and pass this message on to others.

In the midst of all this we are conscious of the challenge it brings.  The church leadership are praying not only for wisdom in the everyday decisions of church life that are being made, but also that it may be a time of significant spiritual growth for us all and fruitfulness for the Gospel.

House groups will continue to be the primary support for one another. If you are not in a house group or need more help than your house group can provide, in the first instant please get in touch with a member of the church staff (

Some of us may find ourselves in a position of abundance during this time and would like to support those that are experiencing financial difficulties. If you would like to give into our relief fund* to help those amongst us who are in need, please do so using your current giving arrangements and highlighting what it is for. Alternatively, you may contact Rodney Wallace, our Treasurer on

In these circumstances we encourage one another to lift our eyes to our great God.

“I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord the maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip.   Psalm 121:1-3

We pray for mercy and protection and for God to do a good work in us and in others.

“What if God was bringing his entire church, globally, to its knees, in utter dependence and weakness? What then?” Chris Green

With love from the Elders

* As is general practice any surplus funds will be taken to the general fund.
