Nayagaun Church, Pokhara, Nepal

Nayagaun Church, Pokhara, Nepal was established in 1987.  Since then it has experienced healthy growth both in numbers and the depth of their faith.  By God’s grace many hundreds are now members of the church and they have a thriving youth and children’s work. It has also established 10 sister churches in outlying areas.  Myton Church’s links with Nayagaun go back many years and a number of church members have been on visits to Pokhara over that period.  We have also had the privilege of fellowship with Grishma Parajuli  (pastor of Naya Gaon Church) and his wife Laxmi here in the UK.

The church also had the vision to establish an initiative to train leaders and potential leaders from many local churches who wouldn’t ordinarily have been able to afford any kind of formal training – Leadership Education And Development ‘LEAD Nepal).  The growth rate of the church in Nepal is high but there are very few trained leaders so the LEAD Nepal initiative was launched to address this by running 2-3 day seminars and training on a wide variety of topics such as evangelism, leadership, preaching, church management, conflict management and so on.  Since its inception hundreds of men and women have attended a variety of venues to study a variety of topics.  The demand for training continues to be high and the seminars/workshops are still fulfilling a key role in building up leaders in the Nepalese church.
